This year’s artists-in-residence have finally arrived in Aso!
Each artist will stay in one of four host areas: Aso City, Minamiaso, Minamioguni, and Ubuyama.
On September 25th, after holding an orientation, we held a welcome party for our guests amidst the great grasslands of Aso under a warm autumn sun. Even though they only just arrived, getting everyone to experience the great outdoors of Aso right off the bat seems to have already gotten the creative juices flowing! Once the schedule has been finalized for when and where the artists will be visiting, we’ll post it here so stay tuned!
About the Artists in Aso 2019 Project
Four artists from overseas are invited to spend 45 days (Sept 24th to Nov 7th) in the Aso region to create art inspired by Aso and then exhibit their artwork in Kumamoto City. The exhibit schedule is as follows:
