Sonia Bazantay

I was born in the French countryside, surrounded by traditional agriculture, and had almost no connection with the world of art.

My first experiences with modern art were with old storehouses for storing crops, fences and sheds. I feel it is important for mankind to live in harmony with nature, and, when I create land art, I try to represent in my art what that land has experienced.

I use both existing artisanship and new techniques to create my art. I use patterns derived from digital sketches mixed with traditional methods and antiques. I hope to understand and study Aso’s traditional agriculture and combine it with France’s culture to create something new and beautiful.

This video shows a piece of art made by Sonia Bazantay during her stay in Aso.
